The person I was going to photograph this week backed out at the last minute and I couldn't find anyone else in time (lame!) So here are some of the other pictures I took at Bagelheads.

  1. I think the first set from Bagelheads is stronger. But, I can understand having a model drop out at the last minute and I think there may be a few strong images in this set as well. I particularly like the second image and the last image.

The last image works more than the two above because there is less clutter and distractions in the background. The way it is cropped works better. Plus, the glove makes it even more funny.

  2. The first and last images are strongest. The first image because of the interesting point of view and the the last one is humorous, but there is one thing that bothers me in the last image, the mat on the floor attracts attention. I feel like maybe if it just wasn't there or if it were straightened it'd be stronger. The second to the last image is the weakest though. Probably just because I feel the image before it is stronger and very similar.

  3. The 4th image works really well as he looks very natural and comfortable. The last image works really well as well, looks like someone just getting ready to go to work. Gloves do make it more humorous. I think the more natural the people look in the photo the better. It gives the fact that they are naked more power because the viewer seems to be the only one not aware that its perfectly ok to be naked in these places.

  4. I totally understand about the model thing, I personally had a venue, props, etc set up for my model as well for the dj. Found out an hour after our meeting time he was DJ'ing and at pool party, hence the setting of my last set lol. But on to critiquing your work . . . I find your work so strong. I dont see any bad images. It's just so . . . interesting, seeing someone nude in area's in society are prohibited. I mean really . . . naked people in the kitchen? lol

  5. Bummer your model backed out on you, but there are still a couple here that are pretty provocative. I agree with Donald about the naked people in the kitchen, that was my first thought also. this is an awesome concept! Naked people in public is a great idea! I hope you are able to keep bringing in models, as I would think that would be particularly hard to keep finding people that were willing to put it out there in public, That takes a lot of confidence! I think the last image works the best because of the gloves, ha ha naked but still making sure to wear the mandatory equipment.

  6. Same thing I said last time. But the faces are a little more distracting this time. Ben makes a good point about the gloves and the nudity. Haha.

  7. I know the feeling of having models back out. I first image reminds me of someone trying to do a spy shot, but the second and last are the best. You might want to see if you can check out a light kit, it will give a much better effect, because using the flash causes a lot of unwanted relections in the background.

  8. The last images you took in the store were stronger. Compositionally I don't like any of the images. This is in part because of lighting and where the people are placed in the images. I do however think the kitchen shots are interesting in terms of thinking about naked bodies and food, sanitation etc. The last one with the gloves is so funny because the rest of the body is not covered up.

  9. I agree with ben as well. Very Very funny! You photos work well. THe one that works most for me is the 4th one with the guy. THere is not much going on in this image, which is fitting for what he's doing: drinking his coffee, probably trying to wake up and get ready for the day.

  10. i agree with some of the other comments. I think the first set at Bagelheads is stronger. There is something very intriguing about more than one person being naked in a public place. It almost lends a sense of normalcy to the situation and humor....lol. Although the fact that you are photographing yourself in the nude and putting on gloves to prepare food is in itself ironic because I'm pretty sure thats a Health Dept violation...lol.

  11. Bummer.

Just try and line up a few people and take lots of shots. It is very hard to get models comfortable, especially in this situation! I want you to really focus on HOW these images will function, and make a choice to take the rest of your images in that direction. Your peers have done a great job of describing each image and how it is read. Let that guide you and your images from now on should become more purposeful.

You are onto something, just decide what!

  12. The images are working for your idea so far. I don't think the first one fits though. Reminds of a sneak shot from someones cell phone from behind the counter. Otherwise, having a model drop out can put you in a bind, but you seem to have done what you can with what you had. The last three images read like a book to me. As if you were looking for some gloves. If it was intentional it worked. If not, might try some more of it.
